Many people have impacted South Florida Softball; the Pascual family is no exception. Delvin “Chunky” Pascual, a name synonymous with dedication and passion for softball, has passed down his love for the game to his daughter, Angelina Pascual, who is now the Head Coach of the Intensity 2010 KOD Pascual squad. Their journey from a small-town softball field to national recognition is a testament to their commitment.

Delvin Pascual, affectionately known as “Chunky,” has been a beacon in the softball community for decades. His journey began as a talented baseball player known for his powerful hitting and strategy on the field. Over the years, he transitioned into coaching softball, where his passion for the game and his ability to mentor young players became his defining attributes. People who know Chunky can quickly realize he is on the field with his loud, echoing voice.

Chunky’s influence extends beyond the field; he’s a revered figure in the local community, known for his commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting the values of sportsmanship and teamwork. Numerous successes have marked his coaching career, but perhaps his most significant achievement is the inspiration and guidance he’s provided to his daughters.

Angelina Pascual, Chunky’s eldest daughter, has distinguishedly carried forward the family’s softball legacy. As a former Division I player at Quinnipiac, Angelina’s career is a story of talent, dedication, and resilience. She began playing softball at a young age under the watchful eye of her father, who instilled in her the fundamentals and love for the game.

Intensity 2010 KOD PASCUAL Shines

South Florida Intensity 2010 KOD Pascual has found success early. The team was assembled in January and is already making a significant impact, showcasing talent, dedication, and a love for the game that sets them apart.

The squad is known for its rigorous training, strong coaching staff, and talented roster. They have exceeded early expectations and earned the respect of opponents not only in Florida but across the country.

The team demonstrated their ability in Colorado at one of the biggest tournaments, the Colorado Sparkler. The team played exceptionally well, going 4-0 in their seeding games. Many standout performances from Katarina Kuma, Catalina Holguin, Anely Gonzalez, and others collectively displayed why this is a team that people notice.

Pascual’s team continued to impress offensively and defensively. They performed on both sides of the ball and as a cohesive unit.

Katarina Kuma led the offensive efforts and delivered an astonishing .900 batting average. Kuma’s consistency at the plate and ability to drive in runs were pivotal to the team’s overall success. Her exceptional performance set the tone for the rest of the team, proving that dedication and hard work yield impressive results.

Catalina Holguin and Anely Gonzalez provided significant sparks to the offense, each hitting two home runs during the tournament. Holguin, with a batting average of .529, and Gonzalez, batting .400, showcased their power-hitting capabilities and clutch performances. Their contributions were instrumental in building momentum and securing crucial victories.

The team’s collective batting average of .386 for the tournament is a testament to their depth and skill. They scored an impressive 40 runs, demonstrating their ability to consistently produce offensively. Key contributors included:

Ainsley Graybeal: Batting .429, Graybeal’s consistent hitting and strategic play added valuable runs.
Sara Utrera: With a .417 batting average, Utrera’s performance was vital in maintaining the team’s offensive rhythm.
Lydia Springer: Batting .400, Springer’s timely hits and on-base percentage were crucial.
Emelie Fajardo: Contributing with a .333 batting average, Fajardo’s efforts helped keep the pressure on the opposing teams.

Behind the plate, Kristina Bamsey and Gianna Holley played pivotal roles in anchoring the defense. Their skillful handling of the pitchers and strong defensive plays provided stability and confidence for the team. Their contributions were key in preventing runs and maintaining a solid defensive stance.

The pitching staff, comprising Catalina Holguin, Lydia Springer, Ainsley Graybeal, and Riley Boop, was instrumental in the team’s success. With a combined ERA of 4.2, the pitchers kept opposing teams’ offenses in check, delivering crucial strikes and maintaining control throughout the tournament. Their teamwork and strategic pitching significantly impacted the team’s overall performance.

Led by Coach Pascual and Coach Gonzalez and supported by outstanding contributions from the team, showcased their talent and competitive spirit.

Unfortunately, because they could not attend the tournament, the team was missing a few talented all-around players: Kennadi Wilson, Jazmyn Chung, and Dakota Williams.
