MIAMI (Jan. 13, 2020) – The 2020 FIU softball schedule was announced on Monday, as the Panthers get ready for a new season at Felsberg Field.
“I am looking forward to my first season at FIU,” head coach Chris Steiner-Wilcoxson said. “We have some great kids who have been working extremely hard to help us make FIU softball better every day. I think this schedule will challenge us and help us prepare for the conference slate that we will face this season. I am excited to see what this team can accomplish.”
The Panthers will play a total of 44 games in 2020, with 20 of those being played at home.
Opening Day will be on Feb. 6 at home as the Panthers host Cal to begin the Felsberg Invitational. The Panthers will participate in two more tournaments during the month of February as well. FIU begins the season hosting the Felsberg Invitational (Feb. 6-8), before heading north to Tampa to partake in the USF Tournament (Feb. 21-23). The Panthers will close out February in Longwood, Florida with Spring Games (Feb. 28-March 1).
Moving into March, the Panthers will host the Panther Invitational at Felsberg Field (March 5-7) as they welcome Tulsa, Ball State, Maryland and Samford to Miami.
Conference USA action will begin on March 13 when FIU hits to road for West Virginia to face Marshall. The Panthers will continue league play at home against UTEP on March 20-22 before making the trip to Kentucky to play WKU on March 27-29.
In the month of April, the Blue & Gold will play Middle Tennessee (April 3-5) and Charlotte (April 9-11) at home, while heading west to North Texas (April 17-19). The Panthers will also face in-state foes FAU (April 24-26) and FGCU (April 29) to round out the month.
The 2020 softball season will wrap up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on May 1 as FIU faces Southern Miss.
The 2020 C-USA Tournament will take place from May 6-9 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, while the NCAA Regionals begin on May 14-17.
