Grab your mitts and get ready for a weekend of diamonds, dreams, and possibly tacos? That’s right, the PGF Emerald 14U Tournament is upon us, and it’s shaping up to be one heck of a softball showdown in sunny Clermont, Florida.
Now, I know what you’re thinking, “Softball and tacos? Is this heaven?” Well, close enough, my friends. The Capital City Taco Truck might just make an appearance, adding some extra spice to the already sizzling action on the field. And speaking of the field, tournament organizer Mr. Hoopes knows how to put on a good show, so you’re in for a treat.
We’ve got four pools, and trust me, these young ballers are ready to bring the heat. In Pool A, keep an eye on Santa Fe Inferno 09, who’ve got some unfinished business from the summer. They’re locked and loaded, but they’ll have to contend with the Baker Ballers, NLS Melendez 14U, and the Texas Blaze 14U McCready. Not much intel on the latter three, so let the games begin!
Pool B’s got Team Tampa 09, and they’re all about repping their city, just in case you didn’t notice it on their jerseys. But don’t think they’ll have it easy, especially with the Batbusters 09 in the mix. Lady Dukes Lumpkin 14u and Florida Intensity 14U are also ready to shake things up in this pool.
Over in Pool C, we’ve got the new Bombers, formerly known as Mercado, and they’re looking to make a splash. But it’s a new season, and they’ll need to watch their backs. Team Tampa 2028 is rising up the ranks, and Florida Impact ’10/11 – Bedenbaugh is young and hungry. The Florida Burn is another dark horse that could give anyone a run for their money.
Last but not least, Pool D is packed with talent. Unity Lanier, formerly known as the Chaos, is riding high after a tournament win. Santa Fe Humphrey is always a force to be reckoned with. Clearwater Bullets 14U Schultheis were beasts at 12U, and the IntensityKOD/McMeel squad is bringing some serious firepower.
These teams are going to battle it out in pool play and then face off in a double-elimination bracket. Want to keep tabs on your favorite squad? You can follow the action on Tourney Machine and Game Changer. Get ready for a weekend of softball madness, folks. The PGF Emerald 14U Tournament is where dreams are made, and who knows, there might even be tacos.
