DeLand, Fla. — Stetson softball rising seniors Danielle Diaz (Santa Paula, Calif.) and Jaime Tino (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) have been selected to play in the inaugural season of the Florida Gulf Coast League this summer. The Hatter duo will remain teammates and compete for FastpitchU, located in Sarasota, Fla.
Players will report to a four-field complex at Lakewood Ranch High School in Bradenton, Florida for orientation on June 14, with the first games to be played on June 18. The season will run for just over a month, through the championship game on July 21.
Diaz, a 5-1 infielder/outfielder, has played in 84 games in three seasons. She is a career .283 hitter with 52 hits and 19 RBI. She batted .356 in 2019.
Tino, a 5-9 pitcher, has appeared in 51 games over three seasons for the Hatters. She has 12 victories and 138 strikeouts in 221 innings pitched.
Diaz and Tino will join Lizzie Shubert of Myakka City as Hatters competing in the FGCL this summer.
