ATLANTA – FGCU softball senior Taylor Bauman was named the ASUN Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Over the weekend in a four-game series against No. 21 UCF, Bauman (Jacksonville, Fla./Atlantic Coast HS) batted .333 to go along with a .667 slugging percentage as she produced three RBI and a game-winning three-run home run. Down 2-0 heading into the sixth in game one Sunday, the senior drove a 2-1 pitch to right-center for the 3-2 lead. She then trotted out back to the circle in the seventh and closed the door on the 21st-ranked Knights for the complete game.

In the process, she garnered her first win of the year, scattering just six hits while giving up one earned run, holding the UCF lineup to a .214 average at the plate.

“Taylor had a very good weekend at the plate,” said head coach David Deiros. “She picked a great time to pitch her first complete game as an Eagle by keeping UCF at bay and delivered the game-winning homer to seal the deal. She was truly an unstoppable force Sunday afternoon.”

FGCU (1-3) is back in action taking on Northern Illinois (0-0) in the FGCU Invitational Friday, Feb. 19 at 5:15 p.m. The Eagles will then face FIU (3-0) after at 7:30 p.m.
