In the highly anticipated 2023-24 NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 Preseason Poll, Southeastern Softball has been given the nod at No. 22. Last season, the Fire blazed their way to a solid 33-18 overall record, earning them a second consecutive trip to the NAIA National tournament.
Unfortunately, their journey ended in the NAIA Opening Round Ashland Bracket, where they faced tough losses against Reinhardt University and the eventual NAIA National Champions, Southern Oregon. But don’t let those setbacks overshadow their achievements. The Fire proved their mettle by taking on eight teams in the national poll last season.
During their spring break trip to the Gulf Coast Invitational, they secured impressive victories against No. 12 William Carey, No. 24 University of the Cumberlands, No. 20 Campbellsville University, and No. 8 Central Methodist University. Additionally, they triumphed in two out of five meetings against No. 18 College of Coastal Georgia.
The Fire are ready to ignite the field again this season with their talented roster. They will be bolstered by the return of their top two pitchers, Autumn Hunter and Claire Sekinger, who lit up the mound in the previous campaign. Chapel Cunningham and Leah Gonzalez, their dynamic duo, will be back to lead the charge on the offensive front.
So, keep an eye out for Southeastern Softball as they aim to make their mark in the NAIA. With their experienced arms and offensive firepower, they are poised to set the field ablaze once more and show the nation why they deserve that No. 22 ranking.
