Head coach Shellie Robinson-Cousins looks to continue growth in season two as the Hatter’s head coach. In 2022 they finished with a 21-35 and fourth in the ASUN East. They added six freshmen and returned a large portion of their 2022 roster.

They return three of their top four hitters from a year ago. Senior Brianna Clary leads that group. Last season she batted .330 with 41 runs and 23 stolen basis, which led the team in each. Sophomore Haley Fox is coming off a season that saw her hit .291 with 13 stolen bases. They will have to find power from somewhere, as their top power hitter, Lizzie Shubert, graduated in 2022.

Junior Lauren Hobbs (8-13) returns to lead the pitchers this season. Last year she posted a 2.92 ERA with 112 strikeouts over 153.1 innings of work. Senior Lauren Klein (9-9) also returns; she posted a 3.97 ERA with 57 strikeouts over 107.2 innings. Several others will vie for time in the circle as well.

As a team, they have a lot to build on. They need to add some power to the line-up and find more consistency at the plate. They are in decent shape in the circle and adding two new arms into the mix. That will give them depth and create competition. The season will kick off at home on February 10, 2023, against Fairleigh Dickinson.
