The USSSA Pride and the Scrap Yard Dawgs, the two best women’s professional softball teams in the world, will battle each other this summer at major youth tournaments around the country, showcasing the game at it’s highest level with the best professional players in the world.

“By bringing the best professional players to these events, young players will be able to experience the shear elegance and awesome power of the game in a way that they may have never seen before,” said Scrap Yard Dawgs GM Connie May. “Witnessing the intensity of professional competition will blow their minds—and hopefully inspire many of them to dream about their own futures.”

The Pride and the Dawgs last faced each other in the 2017 National Pro Fastpitch championship; a series won by the Dawgs two games to one, for its first national championship. The USSSA Pride rebounded to win the NPF championship each of the next two seasons before exiting the league earlier this year.

With the Olympics postponed until 2021 theses two teams will represent the best in the game using an “old school” barnstorming approach that will see them tour together throughout the summer. The Scrap Yard roster will host several Team USA players including Cat Osterman and Monica Abbott while the Pride return the majority of their roster including Amanda Lorenz and Sydney Romero.

Donny DeDonatis, the CEO of USSSA, said the two organizations are excited about the opportunity to tour with the Dawgs and showcase the highest level of fastpitch in the world, all around the country. â€śIt is really important for us to focus our season around USSSA amateur events. By bringing two of the world’s best professional softball teams to these USSSA events, we are able to inspire players and their families and entertain fans of all ages,” he said. “We are also able to give back to our USSSA member teams by creating opportunities for them to interact with professional and Olympic all-stars off the field.”

The tour is scheduled to begin in Houston at the Scrap Yard Sports Complex from June 4th to June 7th, and it will also bring the two sides to the World Fastpitch Championship (June 20 to June 27) and the Space Coast World Series (June 29 to July 4) at USSSA Space Coast Complex in Viera, Fl.
