The 2026 Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series gave Florida several meaningful moments in Westfield and Kokomo, Indiana, but the loudest one belonged to Santa Fe Inferno Nowling 16U.
Inferno went 8-3, finished third in Tier I, and spent the week tangled up with the best team in the event. Their only losses came against eventual champion Texas Bomber Gold Serie 16U, a team they faced four times during the tournament.
Seeing the eventual champion once is a test. Seeing them four times is basically a subscription.
Santa Fe handled the week like a team that belonged deep in the national conversation. The offense showed the ability to score quickly, the pitching staff held up across a long event, and the overall body of work backed up what the team had been building all summer.
At the plate, Paityn Donalson led a strong offensive group, batting .444 with two home runs and 14 RBI. Samantha Otano also hit .444, adding one home run and eight RBI. Kamryn Pickering hit .400 with one home run and 12 RBI, while Addie Allaire hit .357 with two home runs and 11 RBI.
That is the kind of production that makes a lineup difficult to manage. It was not one hitter carrying the weight. It was pressure from multiple spots, with power and run production spread through the order.
In the circle, Santa Fe’s depth showed. Addie Allaire threw 32.1 innings, allowing 19 hits and five earned runs while striking out 45. Emmaline Van Beck added 24.1 innings, allowing 18 hits and seven earned runs with 29 strikeouts.
Those numbers matter because AFCS is not built for thin pitching staffs. Teams need arms that can take the ball, reset after tough matchups, and keep games close when the bracket starts squeezing. Santa Fe had that, and it was a major reason they were still standing near the top of Tier I.
For Inferno Nowling, third in Tier I is a serious national finish. It was not a soft path, and it was not inflated by avoiding the top of the field. They ran into the eventual champion repeatedly and still put together the strongest Florida result of the week.
Tampa Mustangs Rene Posts Solid Tier I Run
Tampa Mustangs Rene 16U went 4-2 and reached the final of a Tier I Super Regional.
That is a good week, especially in a format where the matchups can get heavy fast. The Mustangs were competitive, advanced well, and put themselves in position to keep playing meaningful softball deep into the event.
Their two losses coming against the same team adds some context. Sometimes a bracket gives you variety. Sometimes it hands you the same problem twice and asks if you studied.
Rene’s finish should be viewed as a strong showing, not overstated beyond that. They were good, they competed well, and they represented Florida solidly in Tier I.
EC Bullets Matt 16U Reaches Tier III Elite 8
EC Bullets Matt 16U went 5-5 and advanced to the Tier III Elite 8.
We also need to say this clearly: we should have included EC Bullets Matt 16U and EC Bullets Matt 18U in our preview. That miss was on us.
The 16U group made a good move through the Tier III Super Regional to reach the final eight in Tier III. In this format, that matters. AFCS gives teams a chance to keep building through the week, and EC Bullets Matt took advantage of that opportunity.
A 5-5 record only tells part of the story. The finish gives it shape.
Santa Fe Inferno Humphrey Has Solid Showing
Santa Fe Inferno Humphrey 16U went 2-4 and reached the semifinal of the Tier III Super Regional.
That is a solid result for a team that had to fight through a difficult national field. Humphrey’s week was not about a flashy record. It was about staying alive, competing, and pushing into the Super Regional semifinal round.
There is value in that, especially at an event where the format can expose teams quickly.
Unity Lanier Endures Tough Week
Unity Lanier 16U went 1-4 on the week.
It was not the finish they wanted, particularly for a team that has shown offensive upside this summer. But AFCS can be unforgiving. A few tough matchups, a cold stretch, or one inning that turns the wrong way can change the whole feel of the week.
Unity has enough talent to rebound, but this tournament did not break their way.
Tampa Mustangs Fowler Makes 18U Tier I Super Regional Final
In 18U, Tampa Mustangs Fowler went 4-3 and made a strong run to the Tier I Super Regional final.
That is a quality showing from Florida’s 18U representative. At the 18U level, staying alive in Tier I requires more than a good day at the plate. It takes balance, enough pitching, and the ability to handle older, deeper lineups.
Fowler did enough of that to make a real run.
EC Bullets Matt 18U Finishes 1-4
EC Bullets Matt 18U went 1-4 on the week.
The result was not what they wanted, but their inclusion in the AFCS field should have been noted in the preview. That oversight is corrected here, and the organization still had a strong overall highlight with the 16U team reaching the Tier III Elite 8.
Florida’s Week Belonged to Inferno Nowling
Florida had several teams put together respectable finishes at AFCS, but the headline is Santa Fe Inferno Nowling.
An 8-3 record. Third in Tier I. All three losses to the eventual national champion. Multiple hitters producing. Two arms carrying major innings with strong strikeout totals.
That is the story.
Tampa Mustangs Rene and Tampa Mustangs Fowler both reached Tier I Super Regional finals. EC Bullets Matt 16U made the Tier III Elite 8. Santa Fe Inferno Humphrey reached a Tier III Super Regional semifinal.
Those are all worth noting.
But Inferno Nowling gave Florida its strongest finish of the week, and they did it against the top end of the field. That is the kind of result that travels beyond one tournament recap.
