The Space Coast Power 50 (Backwards K) tournament wrapped up this past weekend at the USSSA Space Coast Complex in Viera, FL. Here’s a closer look at how the key games unfolded:
14U Division
Champions: Fury Platinum Bianco
Runner-up: Miami Stingrays 09
Fury Platinum Bianco edged out the Miami Stingrays 09, 2-1 in a tightly contested final. Hailey Goode and Bailey Nixon each collected a hit for the Fury, while Yanaira Andrade delivered a standout performance in the circle, going four innings without allowing a single run. Casey Lesman was a perfect 2-2 for the Stingrays, with Danbee Kim and Jasmine Armenteros also contributing hits. The Fury secured their spot in the final with a 6-0 win over the Hustle, and the Stingrays earned their place by defeating Firecrackers Don 7-3.
16U Division
Champions: Miami Stingrays 16U Gator
Runner-up: Florida Storm Otero 16U
The Miami Stingrays 16U Gator squad dominated the championship game, cruising to an 11-1 victory over Florida Storm Otero 16U. Leilani Gonzalez drove in three runs and went 1-1, while Maddy Llerandi was 2-2 at the plate. Erin Zambrano earned the win, allowing just one earned run. The Stingrays advanced to the final after a 4-2 semifinal win over Tampa Mustangs 09 Pynes. Florida Storm Otero made it to the final by beating Gators Jackson 16U Randy 3-1.
18U Division
Champions: Tampa Mustangs Torres
Runner-up: Gainesville Gold Shields
Tampa Mustangs Torres dominated their final, securing a 7-0 win over Gainesville Gold Shields. The Mustangs racked up 13 hits, with Julia Girk and Julia Tamulski both going 2-2, and Holland Poe contributing a 2-3 performance. Rylee Little was stellar in the circle, striking out five in a shutout victory. The Mustangs earned their final spot by defeating Florida Storm National – Masso 2-0, while Gainesville Gold edged out Florida Power Black Kaser 3-2 in the semifinal.
