DeLand, Fla. — Stetson softball junior Lizzie Shubert has been selected to play for the Myakka City River Mocs of the Florida Gulf Coast League.
The FGCL is a newly formed collegiate summer league anticipating to play a 25-game schedule beginning in June. The season will include an All-Star/Parent Weekend, as well as special events throughout the season. Players will also have access to indoor facilities for training.
The league is consists of 12 teams located in the Tampa area stretching from Clearwater south to Sarasota. Some of the teams scheduled to compete include the Bradenton Slice, Manatee Squeeze, IA Lions, SUA Pioneers, Myakka City River Mocs, Bradenton Lynx, Sarasota Cat 5, Madeira Beach Boom, Madeira Beach Mayhem, and Madeira Beach Surf.
